Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a complex mental health condition triggered by experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. This can include, but not limited to, an accident, a sudden loss, combat exposure (veterans, emergency responders), physical or sexual assault, witnessing violence (shooting, domestic violence), and natural disasters.

If you have suffered any of the above, you may experience intrusive memories and/or thoughts, flashbacks, nightmares, severe anxiety, and uncontrollable thoughts about the event. These symptoms can disrupt your daily life, making it challenging for you to function normally. You may find yourself becoming anxious or frightened in situations or near people that remind you of the incident. You may experience heart palpitation, sweaty palms and an uncontrollable need to escape. Sometimes, you may just feel uneasy but without really knowing why. You may start to avoid people or situations and notice your life becoming more and more limited and restricted.

The good news is that PTSD is a conditioned disorder and can be reversed. In therapy, my approach is empathetic and client-centred, focusing on creating a safe and supportive environment for you to free yourself from this nightmare. I use different approaches to help you process the trauma and develop useful and lasting coping strategies.

I recognise that each person’s experience with PTSD is unique, and thus, my treatment plans are tailored to meet your individual needs. We will work at a pace that is right and effective for you, emphasising safety and regulation.
